Everyday 'mum bag' swapped for far more chic Dior option. All essentials packed, all dummy's, toddler snacks and Peppa Pig items removed. Check.
Outfit chosen, confident that favourite gold trainers go with said outfit. Check.
Resisted the press to carry a picnic lunch in a proper mum stylee and instead have chosen to be irregular and foraging for food items once at the show.
Check!
My lovely friend Jo and I get in London at around lunch time, thankfully the conditions is smiling upon us, it's freezing but gay and dry. Hurrah! Our complimentary tickets collected and it's time to hold out what fashion-tastic items are on offer. We head directly to 'the camp' after quickly flicking through the show guide and fix the most important exhibit of the day. The one thing that has brought us up to London. It promises to have quality, pleasing aesthetics and joy to our senses - the Chambord bar!
Of class I jest, although locating the bar for later refreshments after a heavy days shopping was a pretty important reconnaissance mission. The tent greeted us with an array of simply stunning jewellery, handbags, hats and sunglasses.
After studying the beautiful jewellery and poring over the original designs we were worn to a stall exhibiting handcrafted glass bead designs. Clara Francis had the almost magical looking stall of the day. Everything was covered in brown paper and lace with Alice in wonderland and all her curious friends adorning vintage clocks and jewellery displays. It looked beautiful.Clearly an incredibly artistic and talented jewellery designer Clara has created all manner of forest and magical creatures from glass beads and presented stunningly original necklaces, brooches, bracelets and rings etc...
My next stay was at the 'Blush B-Lush' stall.Gorgeous leather handbags, wallets and clutches amongst other things. I drop in bed with a 70's inspired handbag but resisted the press and instead showing great restraint purchased a present for my sisters birthday! I won't reveal any information on said gift as I love my lovely sister is reading this! (No Jenni, your present is not a handbag!)
After a quick refuel in the work of a jacket potato and a Pepsi (classy! it was time to break out the principal building and all 5 floors of various exhibits. We salivated over 'Ghost' dresses and drew inspiration from original designs and insanely clever customizing. I tried on an amazing vintage coat that had been customized with big gold sequins in the form of wings that covered both the game and movement of the coat. It was beyond 'cool'!
The remainder of the day was spent mooching around stalls, laughing and gossiping. As girly days go, this was one of the best.
Parched and tired we get our pilgrimage back to the Chambord bar for much deserved refreshments and people watching. After just a brace of champagne cocktails everything seemed a little bit more comical and we relax into our seats and admire the new and trendy in their Henry Holland tights and shorts, and project how we'll be as smart as the ladies rocking their vintage designer labels from years past. All in all a truly luscious way to pass a Saturday! See you next year London Fashion Weekend...
